Yesterday's swap at Rustic Sunflower Farm was so much fun! Thank you so much Lena and Luis Macias for hosting us for the second time.  Thanks to everyone who drove out and as always, I hope that everyone had as much fun as we did.

What an amazing variety of items that were brought and it's always fantastic to meet new people and to catch up with friends.  We're hoping to get a location soon for the next swap, which will be after 4th of July weekend.  Stay tuned for more information on that!

If you weren't at the swap yesterday and haven't heard yet, Wendy and I have launched our first Kickstarter project -Colorado Springs Community Dinner- and hope that people in the community will be as excited as we are about it.  This outdoor dinner is open to any resident of Colorado Springs, but space will be limited!  It's up to all of us to make this a success, an unconditional, mutual gift to one another.  We will take donations and note those who have given, but this will not be a sponsored event.  This is a fully community-powered event.  We will each be responsible for the amazing turn out!

Wendy and I have been talking about a community powered potluck dinner for a while now, so please click here for more information.  We are also proud to introduce the Colorado Springs Community Alliance, a new non-profit organization! CSCA's mission is to provide the residents of Colorado Springs with opportunities to engage with each other, support locally owned businesses, educate residents about local food and support innovative, small community projects.

Thanks again to everyone who makes our swaps so fun and successful.   For us it's all about community, meeting new friends, and hopefully inspiring others to share their knowledge and skills.  I was a little more distracted than usual at yesterday's swap, so I didn't take as many photos and missed a few items.  Sorry about that! See you at the next swap.

Mile High Swappers had their second swap and I went up to photograph the event and to finally meet organizer, Eve Orenstein.  The swap was held at lovely Isabelle Farm in Lafayette and being in the middle of the swapping buzz made me even more excited about our upcoming swap!

At the swap I was also reminded that even though we have a request for donations on our website, I want to remind and encourage you to bring a non-perishable canned food item to the next swap.  Our goal is not only to encourage friendships, but also help give back to the community in any small way that we can.

Please be sure to RSVP soon and we hope to see you on June 26th at Rustic Sunflower Farm!

Our 6th swap was on Sunday and it was another really fun time! The turnout was good, so thanks to everyone who came out.  It's great to see people enjoying themselves and mingle before the "swapping frenzy" begins! It's also great when people leave saying that they are so excited for the next swap! Thanks again to Tyler Stevens at Coutura Design Inspirations for hosting us, it's always nice to be there.

If you didn't hear, Pikes Peak Community Cupboard was invited to go on Table Talk with Teresa Farney on Saturday.  Click here to listen to the podcast.  It was my first time on the radio, so be gentle with me. Ha.  There will also be an article in the Independent about swaps in Colorado Springs, and I believe that you can pick up a copy either on the 9th and here is the article online!

Our  next swap is scheduled for Sunday June 26th 2-4PM and Rustic Sunflower Farm is hosting us again! Mark your calendars because you won't want to miss it.  RSVP information will be posted soon! We ask that you try your best to RSVP so that we will have enough counter space for everyone.

Many thanks again to our wonderful co-organizer, Wendy, for helping make the swaps go as smoothly as possible.  It's a lot of fun work to organize these swaps, but Wendy and I agree it's the people who show up that truly make these events the great time that they are! We hope to inspire friendships and community at each event.

Here are some photos from the swap below, and photos of all the swaps are always on the website here.

See you  next time!
